Author Bio:
Evelyn Geisler brings both personal and professional experience together when she writes for those dealing with personal health issues.

As a pharmacist, certified diabetes educator, and certified insulin pump trainer, Evelyn has worked in the healthcare field for more than forty years. She also has written health columns for her local newspaper, sharing knowledge, compassion, and encouragement with readers.

Evelyn’s knowledge of mental-health issues is also personal. She has experienced bouts of depression and seen both her parents deal with major depression. Her husband also has experienced mental-health challenges. “I believe we are put here to help each other,” she says, “and I hope my devotionals can help others in some small way.”

Community involvement for Evelyn includes heading a diabetes support group and participating in Kiwanis and the Guild of Tehachapi Hospital. She also is a member of local and national diabetes and pharmacy organizations and is connected with NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Evelyn was awarded the Beta Sigma Phi Lady of the Year in 1979 and the Tehachapi Citizen of the Year in 1995. The Association of California Healthcare Districts and California Hospital Council selected Evelyn as Trustee of the Year in 1997. Evelyn received a national pharmacy award, the Bowl of Hygeia, in 1999.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, Evelyn graduated from Patterson Co-op High School in Dayton and from the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy. Married, with three grown children and two grandchildren, Evelyn is a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tehachapi, California, where she has lived for 35 years.

Her previous books include two mysteries, Canal Murder and Local Boy Makes Dead, and Sweet Talks with God, a devotional for people with diabetes (all published by Pleasant Word).
Book Recap:
Touched by God is a short devotional guide blending practical advice and unwavering faith, designed to comfort those with mental illness and guide them through its challenges with confidence in God’s abiding love and care.

The thirty-one devotionals in Touched by God are short and easy to focus on. Each provides a Scripture verse, encouraging insight, and brief prayer. Themes in the book cover the stages of recovery—diagnosis, treatment, challenges, helps, and success. Special sections at the back of the book deal with goal setting, diet, and budgeting—areas that can be critical to a good recovery.

Touched by God is based on the real-life experiences of people who have faced the difficulties of mental illness. Readers with mental illness will learn about the trials and triumphs of others like themselves. Families and friends can use the book to learn about mental illness and what is helpful to those who have it.
